Prepare to Fall in Love with Stunning New Colour Combinations
Scheepjes are inviting crafters to join a new MAL, where together we’ll crochet the Beatrix Blanket by Jellina Verhoeff of Jellina Creations. This striking design features damask motifs made using the crochet tapestry technique, and rich graduated colour effects. It echoes the glowing light and shade used by Pre-Raphaelite artist Rosetti in his romantic Beata Beatrix painting, depicting his wife and muse, Lizzie Siddal, a talented artist in her own right. Initially designed for YARN Bookazine No. 12 – Romance, the stunning original version is made with Scheepjes Whirl and Whirlette.
Scheepjes Whirl (60% Cotton, 40 Acrlic; 215g/1000m)

The Beatrix Blanket MAL will be hosted in the Official Scheepjes Facebook Groups from 1st June to 22nd June 2022. Alongside helpful weekly tips posted to the Jellina Creations blog, participants can access expertise from the designer and ongoing support from the knowledgeable moderators and admins within the groups. The wonderful international Scheepjes Community are also at hand to offer friendly advice and mutual encouragement.
The Beatrix Blanket MAL is perfect for intermediate crafters looking to develop or refresh skills in tapestry crochet and create unique colour effects. Participants choosing the original version will crochet the blanket background using the inner strand of one Whirl cake, and the motifs with the outer strand of a second. In Jellina’s first blog post, she will explain how the colour effects on the exciting new Our Tribe and Metropolis combination compare to the original.
